Cette année, le conférencier invité (keynote speaker) sera Dr Alma Swan. Alma Swan est une consultante travaillant dans le domaine de la communication savante. Elle est directrice de Key Perspectives Ltd et est titulaire de titres universitaires honorifiques à l’École d’Électronique et d’Informatique de l’Université de Southampton et à la Business School de l’Université de Warwick. Son travail porte notamment sur les pratiques et comportements de communication sur la recherche, et sur l’étude et la promotion de nouvelles formes de communication savante à l’ère de l’Internet. Elle est également coordinatrice de Enabling Open Scholarship (EOS), dont l’objectif est de poursuivre l’ouverture du savoir et de la recherche à travers la croissance des mouvements du libre accès, de l’éducation libre, de la science libre et de l’innovation libre.
La conférence de clôture sera donnée par Dr David Charles De Roure, professeur à l’Université d’Oxford, Directeur du Oxford e-Research Centre (OeRC) et co-directeur du Institute for the Future of Computing à la Oxford Martin School.
ORBi, le dépôt institutionnel de l’Université de Liège, intègre Primo Central
Avec plus de 97.600 références, dont plus de 31.000 avec un texte intégral en Open Access, ORBi, bibliographie et dépôt institutionnel de l’Université de Liège (ULg), a fait sa place dans la communauté scientifique liégeoise et mondiale. En plus d’être moissonné depuis plusieurs années par les outils Google Scholar, OpenAIRE, Base, Driver, Isidore, etc., le contenu d’ORBi est également désormais référencé dans l’index Primo Central.
Primo Central Index est un méga-agrégateur contenant plusieurs centaines de millions de références de ressources électroniques de nature scientifique (articles, livres, chapitres, comptes rendus, rapports, documents légaux, images…) mises à disposition par des éditeurs et agrégateurs. Depuis février 2013, comme plus de 1.900 autres, les Bibliothèques de l’ULg souscrivent à ce service, permettant ainsi à leurs usagers d’accéder directement et facilement à de nombreuses ressources en ligne, souscrites ou gratuites.
La société Ex Libris mène une politique active en matière de mise à disposition de ressources Open Access via Primo Central. L’une de ses initiatives est la possibilité pour les universités et centres de recherche d’intégrer leurs archives ouvertes dans Primo Central. Depuis le printemps 2013, ORBi fait partie des 33 dépôts institutionnels actuellement intégrés à Primo Central :

Chaque mois, de nouveaux dépôts s’ajoutent à cette liste. À côté de ces dépôts institutionnels, signalons que l’archive HAL (Hyper Article en Ligne) est également intégrée à Primo Central depuis mai 2012.
À ce jour, plus de 350 institutions utilisatrices de Primo Central ont déjà intégré les références Open Access issues d’ORBi dans les résultats de recherche de leurs usagers, offrant ainsi une plus grande et meilleure visibilité des publications scientifiques de l’Université de Liège et mettant celles-ci au coeur des outils professionnels de recherche bibliographique.

Ex Libris Extends Its Support for Open Access by Launching Registration of Institutional Repositories for Primo Central
As part of the company’s strategy to increase the discoverability of open access material, this initiative helps researchers access diverse and hard-to-find scholarly contentJerusalem, Israel—January 27, 2013. Ex Libris® Group, a world leader in the provision of library automation solutions, is pleased to announce that it has launched a self-registration service enabling institutions to easily add the contents of their institutional repository (IR) to the Primo Central Index of scholarly electronic materials and thus expand the breadth of IR content in the index.Institutional repositories play a key role in the open access movement. They often contain articles that are as yet unpublished or are freely available in the repository as part of an institution’s green open access mandate. Once indexed in Primo Central, this content becomes widely discoverable to users in over 1300 institutions, thereby significantly increasing the usage and impact of an institution’s research output.Institutional repositories contain a wealth of otherwise hard-to-find material such as research data, manuscripts, and course notes. This new initiative will benefit institutions, researchers, and users of scholarly material—who will enjoy timely and easy access to material they might not have found otherwise—and, as a result, will further the open access movement itself.Oren Beit-Arie, Ex Libris chief strategy officer, explained: “This simple registration service enables institutions to easily offer their scholars increased visibility and speedier exposure for their research output, thus creating one more incentive for researchers to endorse open-access publication. With the growing interest in usage-based impact measurements and altmetrics to complement traditional methods of assessment, publication in institutional repositories presents an additional way to maximize the usage and impact of research.”Registration of institutional repositories in Primo Central is another strand of the company’s open access strategy. Ex Libris endorses both green and gold open access methods and is involved in a number of initiatives to maximize the visibility of open access materials, including exposing the availability of open access articles that are published in subscription journals (hybrid journals).Institutions who wish to add their repository to the Primo Central Index should register at http://dc02vg0047nr.hosted.exlibrisgroup.com:8080/IRWizard/wizard.html.
